5 Things To Know About Thandiwe Newton’s New Boo Lonr
Thandiwe Newton’s got a new man!
Hot on the heels of news that she and husband Ol’Parker have split after 23 years of marriage, the actress was recently spotted kissing a mystery man in Malibu. The man has now been identified as 25-year-old singer Lonr.
The 49-year-old actress, and the musician, 24 years her junior, shared a passionate kiss and held hands while taking a stroll on Saturday. The PDA session was the first time Thandiwe has been seen in public since news broke of her exit from ‘Magic Mike 3’ which is being filmed in London.
Her reps refuted reports that she was fired following a heated argument with star Channing Tatum over Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. Instead a Warner Bros. Pictures spokesperson said: “Thandiwe Newton has made the difficult decision to step away from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ to deal with family matters.”
Sources say Newton has been having a hard time dealing with the breakdown of her marriage and has been urged to go to rehab. She and Parker wed in 1998 and share daughters Ripley, 21 and Nico, a 17; and son Booker, 8. They are not believed to have filed for divorce.
In the meantime it seems she’s gotten herself “entangled” with a young hot singer. HipHollywood did some digging to find out more about Lonr. Here’s five things we know.
Kendall Jenner Is A Fan Of His Music
The Los Angeles-born artist, real name Elijah Dias, was raised in Milford, Massachusetts and moved back to the West Coast to pursue his career. He entered the music industry with the single “A.M.” which garnered a lot of buzz thanks to Tik Tok which sparked the A.M. Challenge, and accumulated over 2 million user-generated videos including clips from names like Kendall Jenner and Charli D’Amelio.
He Has A Song On The Soundtrack For One Of Thandiwe’s Films
His song with singer Amber Mark, “Save My Love,” appears in the trailer and on the soundtrack for Thandiwe’s 2021 film Reminiscence. In the sci-fi flick, Thandiwe — who co-stars alongside Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson — plays the owner of a company that allows people to relive memories. In August 2021 he attended the premiere for the film, though it’s not clear if it was then that he and Thandiwe first met.
He’s Spoken About Relationship With Thandiwe
When asked about his relationship with Thandiwe, Lonr told Page Six, “From the relatively short time I’ve been fortunate to spend with her, I know Thandiwe and Oliver care deeply about the welfare of their children. That’s all I care about right now.”
He’s A Grammy Winner
He got his start co-writing tunes with good friend H.E.R.(real name Gabriella Wilson). He collaborated on the hit track “Slide” by H.E.R. in 2019 and scored multiple GRAMMY-nominations (including a win for “Best R&B Album”).
He also performed his song “Make The Most” featuring H.E.R. at the 2020 BET Awards.
He’s Self Taught
Lonr learned how to produce and play instruments in his bedroom and has described himself as an ‘unpredictable, fun, silly but serious at the same time’ type of person. He told Wonderland that he dropped out of Community College in 2016 and would take trips up to New York every week just “so I could elevate myself, and my music.” No surprise he sites Pharrell, Tyler The Creator and Frankie Ocean as huge influences.
