From presidents to Hollywood royalty – Celebs and their favourite Birmingham restaurants
Ed Sheeran summed up his verdict of a night out in Birmingham using just two words: “Pretty vibey”. After leaving regulars of a Small Heath pub staggered when he rocked up at The Roost with city rapper Jaykae, he soon got stuck into festivities.
The pop star was filmed sinking pints of Carling with locals and belting out the Serani classic “No Games”. He even picked up a pool cue to pocket a few balls.
Ian Connor, who runs the boozer, had only good words to say following Ed’s visit. He said: “He was absolutely sound, great to everyone, having a laugh and a joke and a game of pool with the lads. He was absolutely brilliant. As good as gold, really down to earth.”

And it wasn’t the only city institution the A-List singer visited that weekend. Earlier on, he was spotted at Brum curry house Asha’s.
The eatery, which also has restaurants in Solihull and Manchester, hit the headlines last summer when Tom Cruise polished off not one but TWO chicken tikka masalas.
Cruise and Sheeran join but a long list of incredibly famous faces spotted sipping pints and sampling the best cuisine the city has to offer.
We hit the archives, consulted our esteemed BirminghamLive colleagues and pulled together pictures of just some of the jaw-dropping moments celebs and world leaders have been spotted in our patch.
There is the time Robbie Williams was spotted in a Sutton Coldfield curry house, Noel Gallagher enjoyed a Balti, and one Bill Clinton was pictured with a gran outside a Birmingham pub. Solihull makes quite a few appearances too.
