Elizabeth Harris Aitken, the glamorous socialite who was married to two Hollywood actors, an MP and his cousin, has died aged 85
Having tried and tested two Hollywood husbands, Elizabeth switched tactics for number three. She married stockbroker Peter Aitken in 1980, a cousin of a former boyfriend, but the pair went their separate ways just five years later. She reunited with the cousin, former Tory MP Jonathan, in the aftermath of their divorce. Now a born-again Christian and prison chaplain, their life together was altogether more peaceful, and their 2003 wedding had the blessing of all of their grown-up children.
Aside from her marriages, Elizabeth was known for her successful PR firm, as well as being a doting mother to her three sons, who would all go on to pursue careers in Hollywood (Jared Harris is a megastar like his father himself now, having starred in everything from Mad Men to Chernobyl).
In later life, she suffered a severe brain haemorrhage as well as two strokes, heart failure and two tumours. She died on 15 April, after a long illness, at the age of 85, and is survived by her three sons.
