did Ben Affleck match with selling sunset’s Emma on raya
Netflix’s hit show Selling Sunset kicked off a minor controversy after one of its stars claimed on the series that she had matched with Ben Affleck on celebrity dating app Raya. Emma Hernan said in a Season 5 episode that she and Affleck sparked a connection, but a rep for Affleck says he has not had an active account for years.
“Raya has confirmed that he has not been an active member for several years,” the rep told People.
30-year-old Hernan told co-star Chrishell Stause that she and the 49-year-old Academy Award winner were “texting” in episode called “Do You Think We’re Friends?”
“Remember when Ben Affleck went viral because he sent some girl…” Stause begins the conversation, referring to an older story about Affleck on Raya.
Hernan interrupts, “He may or may not have been texting me…He may or may not have asked to grab coffee a few times.”
She added, “I didn’t go.”
“You could’ve foiled Bennifer! He was on the hunt,” Stause jokes.
“Right? It was right before that,” Hernan claims in the scene. “So, maybe that wouldn’t have happened. We have the Boston connection. So, that was his opening pick-up line.”
In May of 2021, another woman shared a video of Affleck that she alleged he sent her a video after she unmatched him on Raya. In it, he can be heard saying, “Nivine, why did you unmatch me? It’s me.”
After the video came out, Affleck posted about the incident on Instagram, writing, “HA, you got me. I’m dating.”
He continued with a plea for money for Midnight Mission, trying to turn the moment of celebrity gossip towards a good cause.
“I’m making a donation today because there are people battling addiction every day that don’t have the resources and need help. @raya, you in? Who else is with me? Click the link in my bio to donate,” he continued.
It sounds like Hernan is implying that Affleck connected with her shortly before reconnecting with his current fiancée Jennifer Lopez, but her timing must be off.
