The men’s world No.132 ranked competitor was one set apiece and 2-2 in the deciding third set with the Spaniard when an attendee sitting in the front row heckled Kyrgios.

The notoriously vocal player turned his attention to the fan after taking the fifth game into deuce.

“Are you good at tennis?” the 26-year-old asked the man in the front row.

The spectator quickly responded, “no”.

Kyrgios fired back at the now red-faced Nadal supporter.

“So why are you talking?” the Aussie angrily questioned.

The fan was left speechless before Kyrgios dragged American comedy actor Ben Stiller, a tennis enthusiast, who was sitting a few seats further down, into the tussle.

“Do I tell him how to act? No,” he said before turning his attention back to serving the ball.

The outbursts continued for Kyrgios who then unleashed on the chair umpire for not controlling the noise level of the crowd who were heavily in support of Nadal.

Kyrgios was then broken in the third set, which lead him to turn his anger towards Carlos Bernardes.

“How long are you going to let that s**t go on for? How long? How long? How long bro? How long?” he yelled.

“If you did something about it before, maybe it wouldn’t have happened.

“It happens again and again – and look at the f***ing score! Look at the score!

“It’s your job to control that, no one else’s.

“It’ll keep happening over and over and over again. Say something!”

Earlier in the first set he received a code violation warning for an audible obscenity, which ultimately lead to Nadal winning the first set 7-6(0).

Kyrgios came back in the second set as momentum swung slowly in favour of the Aussie showing glimpses of sheer fight, determination, and cheeky underarm serves in hopes of edging into the last four of the tournament.

He took the match to a deciding set after winning the second 5-7 and letting out a roar to the cheers of the crowd.

Kyrgios could not capitalise on Nadal’s struggle to serve in the opening of the third set.

The world No.4 player held on to claim the third set and the match 7-6(0), 5-7, 6-4.

The pair met at the new to shake hands before Kyrgios smashed his racquet in anger.

A ball kid was forced to jump out of the way after the racquet ricocheted off the ground and into the back wall of the court.

Despite the outburst in the quarter final, it was one of the best singles tournament performances in some time for Kyrgios following his doubles championship win with Thanasi Kokkinakis at the Australian Open.
