A toddler in the royal family is bound to have rarified taste, and as it turns out, Prince Louis’ favourite veg is quite posh.

Kate Middleton opened up about what the Cambridge family likes to eat whilst cooking alongside Mary Berry on TV a few years ago.

“We’ve got carrots, beans, beetroot – a massive favourite – Louis absolutely loves beetroot,” said the Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Louis, who is the youngest of three, recently turned four in late April.

The duchess shared how Mary Berry’s books led to one of the first words Prince Louis ever said, MyLondon reports.

“One of Louis’ first words was Mary because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf,” she said.

“One of Louis’ first words was Mary because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf.

“And children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say ‘that’s Mary Berry’ so he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today.”

On another occasion, whilst visiting an Enfield primary school, The Duchess also detailed how her three kids love making cheesy pasta.

“One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in,” Matthew Kleiner-Mann, chief executive of the Ivy Learning Trust, said after a visit to the school in 2019.

“She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her.”

Having a love for good food must run in the family, as Kate has a number of favourite foods herself.

One of which being her grandmother’s chutney.

Kate may have adapted to Royal Family life pretty smoothly…but she’ll never forget her roots.

For her first Christmas at Sandringham, for example, the Duchess made a tactical decision while choosing a gift for her grandma-in-law, the Queen.

In a documentary released to coincide with the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, Kate said: “I can remember being at Sandringham, for the first time, at Christmas.

“And I was worried what to give the Queen as her Christmas present. I was thinking, ‘Gosh, what should I give her?’

“I thought back to what would I give my own grandparents, and I thought, ‘I’ll make her something’, which could have gone horribly wrong, but I decided to make my granny’s recipe of chutney.”

The Duchess admitted she was “slightly worried about it”, but of course, the chutney featured at the Christmas meal the following day.

Kate said it showed the Queen’s “thoughtfulness, really, and her care in looking after everybody.” And it also showed how much grandmas really love chutney!
