Kim Kardashian Nixed This ‘Savage’ Joke About Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson From ‘SNL’ Monologue
Kim Kardashian is one of the most iconic celebrity figures in pop culture—a woman who has gone through numerous style evolutions over the course of her time in the spotlight. While she has appeared on reality TV for well over a decade, she is still relatively new to the world of sketch comedy.
In October 2021, Kim Kardashian hosted Saturday Night Live, the live comedy show that is known for outrageous humor and cutting-edge jokes. While she impressed many viewers with her ability to poke fun at herself and her inner circle, the reality star recently revealed that there was one joke she opted to leave on the cutting-room floor.
Kim Kardashian made waves when she hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’
In early October 2021, when Kim Kardashian made her guest appearance as the host of Saturday Night Live, fans weren’t sure what to expect. She had many detractors, including those who doubted her ability to crack jokes or play along with the notoriously brutal sketches. Still, she proved to be more than up for the challenge, walking onstage and quipping, “I know, I’m surprised to see me here too.”
Kim Kardashian appeared in multiple sketches throughout the course of the show, including a hilarious skit that cast her as Princess Jasmine and Pete Davidson as Aladdin. Notably, Davidson and Kim Kardashian would go public with their unexpected romance just a few months later.
What ‘savage’ joke about Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson did Kim Kardashian refuse to make?
Kim Kardashian made a number of sharp digs at her family during her opening monologue. However, as she admitted in a recent episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, there was one joke she refused to say. The episode featured Kim Kardashian running some of her jokes for the monologue by comedian Amy Schumer.
As reported by Page Six, Kim Kardashian told Schumer that she opted to cut one particular joke. “Oh, Khloé, you have the biggest heart. It’s so big it has room for Tristan and all of his side pieces,” Kim Kardashian said. While she didn’t reveal the specific reason for cutting the joke from her monologue, the publication speculated that the joke was a little too “savage” for her to utilize.
Of course, the joke referenced not only Kim Kardashian’s sister, Khloé Kardashian, but her long-running, contentious relationship with NBA pro Tristan Thompson, who recently made headlines for allegedly fathering a baby with another woman. Tristan Thompson shares a daughter, True Thompson, with Khloé Kardashian.
Fans praised Kim Kardashian’s bold jokes on ‘SNL’
Many people might not have expected Kim Kardashian to rock it out on Saturday Night Live but the veteran reality star left fans speechless after her October 2021 hosting gig. According to The Daily Mail, fans flooded social media within minutes of Kim Kardashian’s opening monologue, praising her comedic timing and her willingness to poke fun at herself as well as members of her family.
“Let tonight be a lesson that you do not put down or underestimate anybody. @KimKardashian.” one fan tweeted. “@KimKardashian you owned @nbcsnl tonight. You held your own and delivered! Not bad for a girl they say has no talent.”
Another fan wrote, “Kim Kardashian was funny. I wasn’t expecting that.”
A number of viewers praised Kardashian’s impersonation of her older sister, Kourtney Kardashian, in a skit dubbed “The People’s Kourt.” Clearly, Kim Kardashian managed to impress viewers, even if she did decide to nix one joke that she deemed a bit too harsh.
Now that Kim Kardashian and Davidson are in a high-profile relationship, there’s even a chance she could appear on the show again in the future.
