A pre-recorded deposition of actress Ellen Barkin from November 2019 was played in court for jurors on Thursday.

Johnny Depp and Barkin became friends in 1990 and had a sexual relationship for about three to six months in 1994.

“After I moved to Hollywood, he switched the buttons,” she said of the shift. “The friendship went from purely platonic to a romantic one.”

Depp, according to Barkin, was always drinking or smoking a joint. He also experimented with hallucinogens and cocaine. She also said that Depp referred to his assistant at the time as “the pig.”

A brief and tumultuous relationship

Ellen Barkin, called ex-Johnny Depp “controlling” and “jealous” in her pre-recorded deposition played for jurors.

She claimed that their friendship became sexual sometime in the 1990s. Depp ended their relationship when she left him for a two-day trip to Los Angeles, she claimed.

“He didn’t want me to go,” Barkin said in the 11-minute videotaped testimony. “I never heard from him again after that.”

The attorney asked Barkin what he had said to her that showed possessiveness. “He’s just a jealous man, controlling,” she said.

“‘Where are you going? Who are you going with? What did you do last night?’ I had a scratch on my back once that got him very angry, very angry, because he insisted it came from me having sex with a person who wasn’t him” continued the actress.

Depp and Barkin co-starred in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” while they were dating back in 1998. “Was there ever a time when Mr. Depp acted out of control with you?” Amber Heard’s lawyer inquired.

“Mr. Depp threw a wine bottle across the hotel room in Las Vegas when we were shooting,” she said. “A fight was going on…between Johnny Depp and his friend in the room, the assistant. Honestly I don’t remember.” He threw the bottle at her and it hit a wall, she claimed.
