Dolce & Gabbana Calls Kardashians Cheap Before Kourtney & Travis’s Wedding
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s lavish Italian wedding appears to have been one big Dolce & Gabbana ad campaign with the fashion house hosting the event.
All weekend the famous family have been dressed by the iconic brand but the collaboration is somewhat unexpected given the Kardashian’s complicated history with D&G.
The founder of Dolce & Gabanna once bashed the Kardashians on social media.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the founders of Dolce & Gabbana may have attended the wedding, but the jury is still out on what the duo really think of the reality TV stars.
Back in 2018, Gabbana commented on a picture of Kendall, Kim, Kylie and Kris Jenner. He wrote, “The most cheap people in the world.”
This wasn’t well-received by Kardashian fans and Gabbana had also been called out by the fashion watchdog group, Diet Prada on Instagram.
On the other hand, the Kardashians have always been fans of the designer duo. Khloe once named her pet dog Gabbana and Kylie named her dog Dolce.
Kim Kardashian received backlash from fans for promoting Dolce & Gabbana on social media.
Kim has also shown her admiration for Dolce & Gabbana when she promoted the brand on her social media in 2019.
“So I come home to these amazing huge Dolce & Gabbana boxes,” Kim said in a video post.
However, fans gave her a lot of backlash for doing so and she ended up deleting her Instagram post.
In addition to Gabbana’s comment on the pic of the Kardashians, Dolce made controversial comments about IVF treatment and gay parenting in the past.
He said, “We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one … No chemical offsprings and rented uterus; Life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed”
As Kim had her two children, Chicago and Psalm through a surrogate, fans were disappointed to see her promote the brand on her social media.
One Twitter user wrote, “Mad disappointed in @KimKardashian for giving Dolce & Gabbana air time on her Instagram story.”
The controversial comments also damaged Dolce & Gabbana.
After Dolce’s comments, many celebrities boycotted the brand and one of the executives of the company even stepped down.
The designer duo had to stay low for a while, however, they have since apologized for the controversial comments.
“I’ve done some soul-searching. I’ve talked to Stefano a lot about this. I’ve realized that my words were inappropriate, and I apologize. They are just kids,” Dolce said.
He has also changed his views on IVF treatment mentioning that everyone has the right to choose for themselves.
He said, “I don’t know everything about IVF, but I love it when people are happy. It’s like medicine. Science has been put on the table to help people.”
