The trial of Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard has continued on Monday. According to Katherine Arnold, an entertainment industry expert, Amber Heard’s op-ed referring to herself as a domestic abuse victim had no impact on Johnny Depp’s career.

Elaine Bredehoft, Heard’s lawyer, asked Arnold to comment on Depp’s claim that the piece ruined his reputation and turned him into a Hollywood pariah.

“Hardly anybody knew the op-ed existed before he filed suit,” Arnold said. “Certainly not Disney.”

Depp’s team claimed that the actor was dropped from the sixth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” but Arnold testified that this is not true. There is no Pirates 6 in the works right now, and studio executives are already talking about taking the franchise in a different direction.

Depp is expensive, frequently late for shoots, and has been embroiled in controversy that is unsuitable for Disney’s brand, she claims.

She also beleives that Depp’s ongoing legal battle has hurt him more than the op-ed. “In actuality he’s causing his own demise by bringing these lawsuits forward and continuing to ignite the fire of negative publicity around both of them,” Arnold said.

According to the expert, Heard’s career suffered after Depp allegedly made defamatory statements about her allegations of abuse through his lawyer, calling them a hoax.

“She was on the verge of a meteoric rise with ‘Aquaman,'” Arnold said, referring to the alleged libelous comments.

Amber Heard lost more than $45 million after alleged smear campaign

Amber Heard’s career should have followed in the footsteps of co-stars Jason Momoa in “Aquaman,” Gal Gadot in “Wonder Woman,” and Ana de Armas in “Bladerunner,” according to Arnold, but instead it came to a halt.

“They all were on a steady rise or a meteoric rise,” Katherine Arnold told jurors. “Her career should have followed that same upward swing.”

She was unable to land a role or an ad campaign after her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, allegedly launched a smear campaign against her.

Arnold calculated Heard’s financial loss by comparing his career to the careers of other actors who had starred in successful superhero films.
