Hollywood actor, Upstate native Bo Hopkins dies

An Upstate native and longtime actor on stage, film and television has passed away.The Index Journal in Greenwood reports Bo Hopkins died on May 28 at 1:35 am at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, CA.Hopkins was 80 years old.In a career spanning back to the late 1960’s, Hopkins is best known for supporting roles in “The Wild Bunch” (1969) and “American Graffiti” (1973).He also had recurring roles in some hit television series like “Dynasty” and “The Rockford Files.” Originally born in Greenville, “Billy” Hopkins moved around to various South Carolina mill towns throughout his childhood before moving to Hollywood to pursue acting in the late 60’s. In all, he appeared in more than 100 film and television roles. The Index Journal reports Hopkins had been hospitalized since May 9 after suffering a heart attack and that Harley Funeral Home in Greenwood would be handling the arrangements. Hopkins is survived by his wife and two children.
