Kardashian initially co-founded SKIMS with entrepreneur Jens Grede in 2019, and the pair initially named the brand Kimono.

The two were immediately hit with claims of cultural appropriation, and she gave the company its current name in August of that year.

The brand’s initial launch netted the company $2 million in profits, and its offerings sold out in a mere ten minutes.

The company was later given a valuation of $1.6 billion after just two years of business.

Kardashian spoke about her brand during an interview with Vogue UK, where she noted that she initially set out to make clothing for people of all shapes and sizes.

‘I wanted to create a brand that could be relied on as a true solution for how people dress today. In doing this, it was especially important that we were size-inclusive and offered a range of colors,’ she said.

The influencer noted that she and her collaborators greatly valued the input and feedback that they received from their consumers.

‘We’re creating the next generation of underwear, shapewear and loungewear by consistently bringing our customers newness and excitement with each drop,’ she stated.
