McGregor, 33, has packed on some serious size during his time on the sidelines.

And now Notorious has even hinted that his days competing at lightweight could be a thing of the past.

Away from the octagon, Hollywood’s Leto has revealed that he would love to play McGregor should a movie be made about the fighter’s life.

The 50-year-old actor told Extra TV: “If we do the UFC movie, if I was younger, I’d play Conor McGregor. I got the beard.

Paul will NOT make UFC switch because he's a 'smart businessman'

“What Conor does and what these guys and gals do is just extraordinary.

“I’m too old to do Conor probably, but you never know. We could maybe use some CGI.”

After seeing the actor’s remarks, McGregor tweeted him an invite to join him at a fight camp to help him prepare for a potential role on the silver screen.

He tweeted: “Jared Leto, I invite you to come and practice the part with me!”

Former two-division champion McGregor revealed last month that he was hoping to return to the cage in summer.

But UFC president Dana White expects the Irishman to be back in action this autumn.

White and the UFC brass, however, won’t rush McGregor back until doctors give him the all-clear to return to resume full training.

He said: “If his leg heals right and he gets the clearance to really start training, then possibly early fall.”

MMA mogul White plans to meet the UFC’s poster boy in the coming weeks to discuss his recovery and a date for his blockbuster return.

When asked about McGregor’s recent call-out of welterweight champ Kamaru Usman, White told The MacLife: “Yeah, it’s interesting, I hadn’t heard that.

“He’s coming into Vegas, we’re getting together and we’re gonna talk. We’ll see what’s next.

“Any Conor fight is good money-wise.”
