Did You Know? Shriya Saran Was In THIS Hollywood Movie
In 2008, Shriya Saran had her English premiere in Ashok Amritraj’s movie ‘The Other End of the Line,’ directed by James Dodson. Unlike her Hollywood hottie co-star Jesse Metcalfe, Shriya Saran, who was making her Hollywood premiere, garnered a handful of nice comments. The Other End of the Line, on the other hand, garnered generally bad feedback. Worse still, it was a box office flop.
Of course, she could brag about how the film ‘marks a successful Stateside debut for stunning Indian actress Shriya,’ according to the respected trade journal Variety. So where was the movie’s viewing public?
The weekly gross of $57,000 on 91 theatres in North America was more than just a catastrophe for a small film that supposedly cost $2-$3 million. The MGM-distributed movie was a flop from the start, it would be out of so many theatres the week. The English-language picture was also released in India, but only a few Shriya fans who had adored her in films such as the Tamil blockbuster Sivaji went to see it.
Shriya has become one of the most well-known actresses in the South Indian film industry, having appeared in over 75 films. Shriya rose to prominence in the Telugu cinema industry after her debut. Awarapan, which she co-starred in with Emraan Hashmi and was released in 2007, was her first significant Bollywood film.
She went on to star in many more Telugu films while also breaking into the Bollywood and Tamil cinema industries. Saran featured in Sivaji in 2007, which was the top Tamil film at the time. Following that, she starred in films like Kanthaswamy (2009) in Tamil and Pokkiri Raja (2010) in Malayalam, establishing herself as one of the major heroines in the South Indian film industry. We don’t even need to mention her recent hits, the actress is now at the peak of her acting career.
