Ireland weather: Will there be snow as Met Eireann forecast freezing conditions
We may have seen the last of the sunshine for a while as Ireland‘s recently warm and sunny spell is coming to an abrupt end today.
After a few days of glorious sunshine, we’ll be needing to wrap up again for the coming week as temperatures are set to plunge to minus 3 degrees later in the week.
There will be some unsettled weather as the rain is due to make a reappearance and we will be seeing some frost.

Met Eireann has said that today may see some sunny spells but rain will develop throughout the day and it won’t be as warm as we’ve been seeing.
The scattered showers will ease for a time before picking up again later in the night, mainly in the north and east. Cloud will build from the north too during the night and mist and fog patches will develop in mostly light northerly or variable breezes. There will be lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees generally, dipping lower locally.
Mist and fog will clear away during tomorrow morning, leaving a day with a mix of cloud and sunny spells with scattered showers, driest over the western half of the country. Colder air with clearer conditions will push down from the north during the afternoon and evening with highest afternoon temperatures over Ulster of just 5 to 8 degrees.
Wednesday night will be largely dry before turning wintry as temperatures will be plunging well below freezing.
The national forecaster predicts there will be a touch of frost on Thursday as it’s set to be noticeably cooler throughout the country with highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in mostly moderate northerly winds.
Thursday night will be largely dry and clear though there will be some showers near coasts. Another cold night with lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees, with frost developing again in light to moderate northerly breezes.
The weekend is uncertain but it’s expected it will be unsettled with scattered showers throughout the country.
