Huge congratulations to former Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw who announced on Thursday March 31 that he was set to wed long-term partner Meshach ‘Mesh’ Henry.

37 year old Nick’s happy Instagram announcement included a close up of his stunning, diamond encrusted, asymmetric gold ring which really caught our eye.

Neil Dutta, Managing Director at Angelic Diamonds revealed, “More and more people are stepping away from classic plain bands and, no doubt, Nick will continue to push this trend with his flamboyant diamond cluster ring in yellow gold.”

And while we’re sure the sentimental piece is priceless to Nick, Neil estimated it to have cost around £4,500. “We have predicted this price based on it appearing to be a 10mm wide band in 18k yellow gold with VS clarity [high quality] and F [clear] coloured diamonds.”

While it has traditionally been seen as a man’s choice whether or not he wears an engagement ring, the formally niche market has seen a boom since the legalisation of same sex marriage. In addition, heterosexual male celebrities including Ed Sheeran and Michael Buble have also opted to wear non traditional rings, boosting the trend.

A number of jewellers including Woolton and Hewitt now even offer rings specifically aimed at the LGBTQ+ community. Morganne Le Caer from fashion website Lyst says, “There’s no denying that men’s jewellery has been having a moment. Men have been having more fun with their fashion choices.”

She added, “It’s great to see they’re also getting in on the engagement bling bandwagon, after all, if women can wear engagement ring, why can’t they?”

After four years together, Nick said yes when 25 year old Mesh popped the question while the pair were holidaying somewhere tropical.

“And in gay news this evening…got proposed to, said yes obvs,” Nick captioned his Instagram post.

And the pair’s celebrity pals were quick to offer their congratulations. Laura Whitmore, 36, said, “So delighted for ya”, while Alex Jones, 45, said, “Lush news”, and Wayne Bridge, 41 sent the message, “Congrats mate”.

Meanwhile Gemma Collins commented, “Absolutely fabulous”, and Stacey Dooley said, “Beautiful news”.

The couple were first spotted together at Soho Farmhouse in 2018 before reportedly moving in together in 2019. Clearly loved up, Nick and dancer Mesh often share happy selfies via Instagram and we are delighted they have decided to make things official!
