Idris Elba confirms whether he used to sell weed to Dave Chapelle or not
A few days ago, there was a report of Dave Chapelle allegedly saying Idris Elba used to sell him weed in order to pay for acting school. We still hadn’t heard from the actor who starred in ‘The Wire’, ‘The Jungle Book’ and ‘Sonic 2’ more recently. Elba was talking about his career on The Jess Cagle Podcast and opened up about some of the dark moments of his career. Even though marijuana is legal now in the entire country, Elba knew that during that time he sold the plant, it wasn’t legal at all. But Dave Chapelle recalled him for that and Idris had to come out to confirm this information during that podcast.
During the appearance, Idris Elba just came out and said it: “I used to sell weed,” Elba explained. “I did that for a little bit just to, you know, help pay the way. I DJ’ed quite a bit. I was a doorman. I was a doorman at Carolines comedy club [in New York], which is fascinating now, when I meet the comedians that you kind of remember the English guy. Tall English guy with the funny accent and the little hair. David Chappelle remembers me ’cause he used to buy weed from me. Anyway, moving on. Yeah, I did all kinds of things to be honest, all kinds of things.”
Should Idris elba be ashamed for selling weed in the past?
Judging how much cancel culture has taken over the entire Hollywood elite, it’s only natural for Idris Elba to feel bad for what he’s done. However, the new age of legal substances is upon us and weed is one of the mildest ones out there. Today, we are even in the presence of arguably the fastest growing new industry in the United States of America. Even Hollywood has been changing its tune with regards to weed, stars like Idris Elba won’t suffer any backlash for selling weed in the past.
