Amber Heard threatened to serve Johnny Depp with a restraining order if he did not continue to let her live rent free in three of his LA penthouses, Fairfax County Court heard on Thursday.
The actor, 58, is suing his former partner for libel over a 2018 article she wrote in The Washington Post, which his lawyers say falsely implies he physically and sexually abused her.
The jury were shown documents from Amber’s lawyer to Johnny’s legal team in May 2016, which included a list of financial demands from the actress, days after she filed for divorce.
A letter was sent to Depp’s lawyer Jacob Bloom on May 24 2016 – just three days after the couple had an explosive argument, with Amber claiming her ex hit her with a mobile phone, which he denies.

The letter from Heard’s attorney at the time Samantha Spector, said Amber had not filed for a restraining order against Johnny and was keen to find “long term solutions out of the public eye”.
Samantha requested for Amber to have “exclusive use and possession” of a black Range Rover as well as being able to live at three penthouses in West Hollywood with “Johnny to continue to pay mortgage and utility bills”.
The letter also asked the actor for a $100,000 contribution towards reasonable attorney’s fees and $25,000 forensic accounting costs to be paid by May 27 – three days after the letter was sent.

The letter addressed to Johnny’s lawyer read: “As you maybe aware your client and Amber’s husband, Johnny Depp, violently attacked and threated Amber on Saturday night, May 21st, in their penthouse apartment.
“There are several witnesses to this particular incident and there are photographs depicting the property damage Johnny caused, as well as the physical injuries on Amber.
“Unfortunately, this is not the first incident of domestic violence perpetrated by Johnny against Amber.
“In fact, there have been two other incidents in the past six months.

“Although Amber is afraid of Johnny, she strongly insists that we do everything possible to keep this matter out of the media spotlight, which is why she has not yet sought a CLETS DV TRO and why we did not arrange for Johnny to have been personally served at last night’s movie premiere.”
Johnny vehemently denies Amber’s domestic abuse allegations.
Amber’s lawyer went on to say the Aquaman star wanted to work “quickly towards a private and amicable resolution”, before issuing a list of requests on “Amber’s behalf”.
It is not clear how Depp’s lawyers responded but Amber applied for a temporary restraining order against the Pirates of the Caribbean star on May 27.

Also on Thursday, the court heard Amber’s billionaire ex boyfriend Elon Musk paid nearly half of the actress’ donation to American Civil Liberties Union.
The actress had pledged to give the charity her $3.5million divorce settlement.
The jury heard how the Tesla founder, 50, who was in a relationship with Amber from 2016-2017, gave a $500,000 donation on behalf of the actress.
Terence Dougherty, the ACLU Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, testified the charity has so far received $1.3million, with Amber contributing $350,000, Johnny donating $100,000 and $350,000 from investment company Fidelity.

He said $500,000 came from investment firm Vanguard, which he believed was a “fund set up by Elon Musk”.
Terrence said in emails with the billionaire, the charity considered Amber’s donation a ‘pledge’ to be given over 10 years.
Heard’s lawyers have previously told the court Amber intends to give the charity the donation in full but is using her divorce settlement to pay her legal fees.
Johnny’s security guard also testified on Thursday as he appeared via video link from him Essex home.
Malcolm Connelly, who initially worked for the actor, his children, and his ex Vanessa Paradis before meeting Amber in 2010, described how the actress was “lovey-dovey” at the beginning of the Hollywood stars’ relationship.

However, he claimed she soon became “feisty” and “demanding”.
He said: “I could see that Amber wanted to wear the pants in the relationship, that was quite obvious.”
Malcolm described several incidents he said he witnessed, claiming to have noticed the actress would throw things at her partner, including a lighter or a can of pop. He also said Johnny would sometimes have scratches to his face.
The guard went on to testify how he felt Johnny was “not happy” on his honeymoon, before adding how his injuries would seemingly become more frequent.
When the court was shown an image from the former couple’s honeymoon on the Orient Express from Bangkok to Singapore – a snap which was allegedly taken by the security guard – it was noted Johnny appeared to have swelling under his eye.

“He’s walked into a door, or a door’s walked into him,” Malcolm said.
He then discussed the incident which left Johnny with a severed finger in 2015, explaining the “chaos” he found as Johnny’s finger was “flapping around”.
He urged the actor to leave but explained how when they got outside Amber shouted: “F*** off, you f****** coward,” and he claimed her behaviour was “crazy”.
During cross examination he admitted he was loyal to Johnny but insisted: “I’d be loyal to you if I was working for you.”
The trial continues.
