Nick Moran has been in some of Britain’s most iconic films. If you don’t recognise him from the Guy Richie cult hit Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels then you might know him from his role in ITV’s Mr. Selfridge, the BBC’s Death in Paradise, or as a contestant on 2017’s Celebrity Masterchef.

However, there is a role in one of British film’s most talked-about franchises that even hardcore fans of the actor might not be aware he played. In the Harry Potter two-parter The Deathly Hallows Part I and II the actor played a rather minor but still pretty unforgettable part.

The born and bred Londoner played one of the terrifying ‘snatchers’ who hunts Harry and his friends as he attempts to evade Voldemort. In his role as Scabious Nick is almost unrecognisable from his appearance in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels with the actor donning a long, matted wig and covering himself in grime to more look the part.

Nick apparently suited the outfit, as many fans online have called Scabious the ‘sexiest snatcher’, although it’s not entirely clear if that is a title he should be proud of. Not only did Nick catch the eye of Potter viewers but he has also turned the head of a number of women over the years.

In 1997, Nick married Hollywood actress Sienna Guillory who has been in films like the Resident Evil franchise, Love Actually, The Time Machine and Inkheart. However, their marriage would not last long and the couple would get a divorce just three years later.

Unlike Sienna, who would remarry to Theory of Everything and Game of Thrones actor Enzo Cilenti just one year after the couple split, it took Nick 15 years to tie the knot again. He married Jasmine Piran in 2015 saying in an interview just before they wed: “She is younger than me but I’m fantastically immature and she isn’t, so we meet in the middle.”

Jasmine is half-Iranian and a Harley Street dentist and psychologist but the couple’s relationship reportedly went through a rough patch when UK authorities questioned them about whether it was a sham. Nick was apparently quite annoyed when he and his wife were grilled by Camden Council saying at the time: “God knows what they were thinking but I wasn’t expecting the Spanish Inquisition. I get a bit stroppy when questioned by the authorities.”

A Camden Council spokesman told The Mail: “Any British national and foreign national wanting to get married is interviewed separately using standard questions laid down by the General Register Office. Their details are then recorded on the national registration database and assessed by the Home Office.”

Despite that state-sponsored hiccup, the couple have been married for 7 years with Nick appearing on Richard Osman’s House of Games every day this week at 6pm on BBC One.
