Channel 10’s hopes for a reality TV hit to rescue its flagging ratings are sinking fast, as the network’s new dating show The Real Love Boat is struggling to capture viewers.
Based on the classic ’70s sitcom, the show scored a miserable 129,000 viewers in Wednesday night’s metro ratings.
It comes after the show premiered to just 215,000 metro viewers. The ratings were even worse the following night, plunging to just 174,000 viewers.

Channel Nine’s The Block was once again the top rated entertainment program of the night with 752,000 fans tuning across the five major centres.
Meanwhile, Nine’s documentary about the 2002 terrorist attacks in Bali, Remembering the Bali Bombings – 20 Years On, pulled in a mere 245,000 viewers.
Over on Channel Seven, Kitchen Nightmares Australia made a strong debut.
Based on the franchise made famous by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, the reality show where host Colin Fassnidge attempts to make over failing restaurants managed 459,000 viewers in the metro ratings.

Also on Seven, long-running soap Home and Away performed well on Wednesday, bringing in 463,000 fans in the major capitals.
ABC’s gameshow Hard Quiz, hosted by funnyman Tom Gleeson, was a strong lure for viewers, pulling in 471,000 fans on Wednesday in the metro ratings.
Channel 10’s current affairs show The Project, which has been struggling for viewers all year, captured a better-than-average 294,000 fans in the 7pm slot on Wednesday.
It comes after news broke that The Project’s golden girl Carrie Bickmore has quit the show, and maybe headed for Channel Nine’s breakfast program, Today.
Channel Nine finished the night on top, thanks to The Block, capturing 31.4 per cent of the audience share.
Seven gave their arch commercial rival strong competition, landing 27.9 per cent of viewers overall, while the ABC finished third on 17.1 per cent.
Ratings starved Channel 10 finished the night in fourth spot with a mere 15.0 per cent of the market.
