Channel 4 Great British Bake Off: Ellie Goulding’s dating history including Hollywood actor, world famous DJ and megastar musician and ‘close’ friendship with Princess Eugenie
Ellie Goulding is famous for her chart-topping music which has seen her become a well-known artist in both the UK and the US. Alongside the fame came the chance to meet and even date other high profile people.
The popstar has a pretty interesting dating rap sheet with name after famous name popping up. Everyone from Radio 1 DJs to actors, popstars to boy band members Ellie has a pretty colourful romantic past.
Her first famous fling with Radio 1’s Greg James back in 2010 however the couple called it quits 18 months later in 2012. In the same year, after collaborating on a song called “Bittersweet” for the Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part Two soundtrack, Goulding started dating dubstep DJ Skrillex, real name Sonny John Moore.

The two split nine months later, citing the long distance nature of their relationship. Goulding had a brief relationship with Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and War Horse actor Jeremy Irvine which ended in August 2013.
She was then connected with another famous face, McFly bassist Dougie Poynter whom she dated between 2014 and 2016. Although not confirmed by Ellie, there were rumours that she and Ed Sheeran had a fling, which was only reinforced when he released the song Don’t in 2014.
Reports of a relationship between Ellie and Ed began in 2013 when the pair were spotted holding hands at the MTV Video Music Awards. While Ellie dismissed rumours Ed commented to US radio: “I mean, normal people don’t hold hands if they’re just friends.”
Talking about his song and who it might be about, Ed hinted that Don’t was about Ellie responding to rumours by saying “everyone f***ing knows”. Ellie has also responded to the discussion around her reputation for promiscuity which was only exacerbated by the song.
“I think on top of not having a dad, I needed protection. And so that protection came in the form of men, of partners,” she said.
She added: “’Who’s Ellie Goulding dating now?’ would be more interesting to people than how many records I sold, or a song going to No 1, or my tours.”
However, the popstar’s dating life has settled down significantly since. In 2018 she announced she was engaged to art dealer Caspar Jopling with the pair tying the knot in 2019. Caspar is the grandson of former Conservative MP Michael Jopling.
They have one child who was born in 2021. Ellie’s love life isn’t the only part of her personal life studded with well-known faces. She also has a close royal friend.
On Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, she revealed that she and the Queen’s granddaughter Princess Eugenie were close friends. The princess and popstar have been spotted partying or on holiday with each other multiple times.
It was even rumoured that it was Eugenie that is responsible for introducing Ellie to her husband Caspar. The Princess worked with Caspar’s uncle Jay Jopling on the online art platform Paddle 8 in New York leading to rumours that the princess had set her boss’s nephew up with her friend.
Ellie is appearing on Channel 4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer tonight at 8pm.
