“All I’ve ever been is nice to her”

Mr Tomlinson continued: “On 6 February 2019 [Vardy’s now ex agent] Ms Watt sent a message to Mrs Vardy to ask whether Mrs Rooney had “unfollowed” her.

“Mrs Vardy responded saying “Omg. I just saw wow x”. Mrs Vardy’s immediate reaction was that she should message Mrs Rooney but Ms Watt suggested that she should leave it a while and message her in a few weeks. Ms Watt said, “I bet because you had that cervical cancer chat in the sun she has unfollowed you”.

Mrs Vardy responded saying: “She thinks it’s me that’s been doing stories on her! Of all the people on her Instagram ffs! Leanne brown etc etc…That c*** needs to get over herself”.

Mrs Vardy was aware that Ms Watt had confirmed Mrs Rooney had crashed her car when asked about it by [a Sun journalist]. Mrs Vardy speculates in the message exchange that someone might have told Mrs Rooney that the story came from Ms Watts.

Ms Watts denies this and says that “the sun had that pic of her car in America anyway”.

The message exchange continues with Mrs Vardy saying the following to Ms Watt:
“[06/02/2019, 17:55:39] Bex: I know I’m offended she thinks I did it..

[06/02/2019, 17:55:56] Bex: mean ffs Dawn f****** ward is still on there …”

[06/02/2019, 17:58:52] Bex : Someone on her Instagram regularly sells stories on her though x”…

[06/02/2019, 17:59:41] Bex: What a joke! All I’ve ever been is nice to her though! Even when Wayne was being a c***!”…

“[06/02/2019, 17:59:57] Bex: Stupid cow deserves everything she gets! Hope she gets sold out massively now”

Mr Tomlinson told the court: “This is not the reaction of a person who is doing the leaking (or getting the person to whom she is speaking to do it on their behalf). Mrs Vardy’s reaction on discovering she has been wrongly suspected – expressed in
these candid contemporaneous messages – is plainly genuine.”
