EastEnders Joey Branning actor David Witts starts new career
EASTENDERS Joey Branning actor David Witts has kickstarted his new career ten years after quitting the soap for Hollywood.
The 30-year-old played the hunk in the BBC show between 2012 and 2013.
After a year of playing the estranged son of Derek Branning, David decided to pursue other things.
The soap star later moved to the US after being signed by a top agent.
But now he’s back and has landed himself a new job with drama school Act4tv, which offers acting classes and online courses.
In a Facebook post, Act4tv wrote: “NEW TUTOR ALERT!! DAVID WITTS – MONDAYS MCR!
“Since being a regular in EastEnders, David has been over in LA working on some major projects.
“He’s now back in the UK and taking over our Monday nights at Act4tv.
“David has a unique teaching style and can’t wait to share his knowledge with the pro actors of Manchester.
“His classes go live on the website on Monday the 28th, don’t miss out, keep your skills sharp, come and join the family.”
During his stint on EastEnders, David’s alter-ego Joey was involved in a number of gripping storylines.
He started going out with Ian Beale’s daughter Lucy, but soon dumped her and fell in love with his cousin Lauren Branning.
The pair were scared about Lauren’s dad Max finding out, so they tried to run away, but Lauren ended up crashing the car while she was intoxicated.
Joey then had to deal with the aftermath of his sister Alice getting involved with Janine Butcher and Michael Moon.
He left the Square to live with his mum.
In 2016 he played Craig in American teen drama Recovery Road.
He also starred in Wings, An Unpleasant Surprise, The Devil’s Hand and I Ship It.
David has also appeared in a number of theatre productions including Hairspray, Aladdin, Cinderella and Wicked.
In 2019 he bagged himself a role in BBC’s Doctors.
Most recently he played DC Adam Spier in Manhunt.
