EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer’s son is a rising Hollywood star who acted alongside Harry Styles, Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman
Former EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, who played fiery Bianca Jackson on the soap, isn’t the person in her family with a successful acting career. The soap star, 49, become famous after first appearing on our screens back in 1993- and it now seems her son is following in her footsteps.
Soon after her exit in 2014, Patsy packed her bags for America to start a new life with husband Richard and children Fenton, Emilia and Bertie, however, her eldest child actor son Charley Palmer Rothwell decided to remain in London to pursue his dreams.
Patsy expressed that she was extremely proud of her grown-up son’s choice to stay behind. At the time, she said: “I should trade places with Charley!’, before saying last year. ‘He’s 25 now, he’s a man. He’s done incredible things. He’s a movie star.”

Film lovers will have seen Charley in blockbuster movies such as iBoy where he starred opposite Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, as well as appearing in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, which Harry Styles featured in, and in Darkest Hour, alongside Gary Oldman.
To UK fans, he will be remembered for playing Baz in the BBC drama Our Girl, as well as a role opposite Tom Hardy in Legend. His beloved TV actress mum, on the other hand, served a long stint on Grange Hill before EastEnders. She played the role of Natasha for 60 episodes between 1985 and 1987.
At the age of just 21, Patsy landed the role on the soap but it was many years later that she called it quits to focus on cracking Hollywood, and hoping to spend more time with her family as she found being on EastEnders “all-encompassing.”
She said: ‘”I’d left EastEnders because I’d been there a long time [since 1993], and I was getting offers for other things, TV and film. Then I had my son Fenton, and then Emilia, so it has always been career, kids, career, kids. I never missed EastEnders because it was so all-encompassing, so it was nice to have some family time for a bit. But I did love my time there.”
During her time on EastEnders, Patsy was at the centre of some of the show’s most explosive storylines – including the episode that saw her character wed to Ricky Butcher in 1997. The actress also won the ‘Best Actress’ award at The British Soap Awards in 2000.
