Fans slam ‘controlling’ Kim Kardashian for telling Pete Davidson to remove hat
Pete Davidson fans have taken issue with girlfriend Kim Kardashian telling him to remove a hat while shooting behind-the-scenes footage of their time prepping for the 2022 Met Gala.
In a clip uploaded to the Kardashian Social Instagram page, Kardashian, 41, is seen telling the “Saturday Night Live” star, 28, to “take the double hat off,” as he wore a purple cap over a navy one with white writing.
“I didn’t know where to put my hat,” the stand-up replied as he removed the purple topper, Kim’s entourage giggling in the background.
Gesturing to an assistant, Kim adds, “She’ll hold it, just in case, because if it works and we want to use this somewhere. Just if I want to post any behind-the-scenes.”
“Oh you don’t want me to have a double hat? I appreciate that. Thank you,” Davidson responded sarcastically.
“I’m just looking out for you,” Kim replied, to which Pete responded, “No, it’s cool” before handing it over and adding, “Thank you, man. This hat caused a lot of trouble.”
Fans of the Staten Island native immediately called out the reality star for attempting to control Davidson’s look.
“She’s controlling. She’s not letting him be himself by wearing two hats. Let him wear two freaking hats, Kim. It’s all about her Instagram aesthetic. Within five months he’s going to be a complete accessory,” wrote one observer in the comment section, with another adding, “nah def red flag passive aggressive behavior. Instead of telling him she doesn’t want him to make her look bad, which is what she’s implying. She said she’s looking out for him. It’s giving controlling and selfish.”
The moment echoed Kardashian’s own experience with ex Kanye West, who famously tossed her entire wardrobe once they began dating.
“I always thought I had really good style — until I met my husband and he told me that I had the worst style,” Kardashian recalled in 2018. “He was really nice about it and cleaned out my whole closet.”
The clip was recorded at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Orlando last month, where Kardashian tried on the Marilyn Monroe dress she wore to the Met Gala, escorted by her beau in a sharp tux and shades. The reality star sparked backlash when she revealed she lost 16 pounds in three weeks.
