‘Friends’ Actor Mike Hagerty Who Essayed The Role Of Mr Treeger Passes Away At The Age Of 67
Hollywood actor Mike Hagerty, popular for his innumerable character roles and best known for playing Mr Treeger on FRIENDS has passed away at the age of 67. The cause of his death remains unknown. The tragic news was announced by Bridget Everett, Hagerty’s co-star on show Somebody Somewhere.
Sharing the heartbreaking note on his passing Bridget wrote, “With great sadness, the family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles. A beloved character actor, his love of his hometown of Chicago and his family were the cornerstones of his life. Mike, a devoted husband, is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn, his sister Mary Ann Hagerty, her wife Kathleen O’Rourke, and their daughter Meg. He will be sorely missed”.
Sara Jessica Parker commented, “No. No. No. no. Oh terrible loss and k will miss him on your show. Heartbreaking. Admired him for years.”
Comedian Murray Hill said, “A tragic loss. The best dad”.
Fans, too, mourned the loss of a great actor and sent their condolences to the family.

The channel behind Somebody Somewhere also issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. It reads, “We are very saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Mike Hagerty. A member of the HBO family for many years, his most recent role as Bridget Everett’s father in Somebody Somewhere showed his special talent for bringing heart to a performance. Mike was a joy to work with and brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

Everyone is in shock and grief. Writer Will Harris said, “I’m extremely saddened to hear that Mike Hagerty has passed away. I wanted so badly to do a Random Roles with him for the AV Club, but even though he was a Chicago guy, the pitch was a no-go. Most depressing is that we were supposed to do an interview for my Substack newsletter when SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE premiered, but due to a scheduling issue, it never happened…and now it never will. #RIPMikeHagerty.”

Michael Gerard Hagerty won the hearts of his audiences for his small character roles in popular comedies including Martin, Cheers, The Wayans Bros., Curb Your Enthusiasm, Friends, Seinfeld, and The Wonder Years. He was also a regular on The George Carlin Show.
Known for his mustache and thick Chicago accent, Mike Hagerty was mostly seen on Television. He had also done small roles in movies like An Old Man’s Gold, Back In the Day, Helicopter Mom, All Stars, Urban Myth: Nest, N’Everest and Apache Junction.
