Hailey Bieber Wears Saint Laurent Dress at Met Gala 2022
Just months after the Biebers’ first Met Gala appearance as a couple, Hailey Bieber returned to this evening’s Gilded Glamour event on her own. Justin’s absence is understandable, given the singer just did a concert last night in Texas as part of his ongoing tour.
Hailey wore Saint Laurent on the red carpet, pairing a white high leg slit dress from the house with a feathered wrap and sheer black tights.
Hailey spoke earlier this spring about why she no longer plans to talk about her marriage to Justin in interviews. “It doesn’t feel worth it to me anymore when I try to have an open conversation with someone like you and then it gets taken out of context,” she explained. “The media loves to take a tiny little blurb of something for clickbait. The media has always been a disgusting thing.”
She added that despite their mega-fame, “behind closed doors, we’re two really normal people that just have not-normal lifestyles and careers. I think given the magnitude of Justin’s career, he’s a very normal person, and I don’t think that always happens.”
Those comments came shortly before Hailey spoke out against online commenters harassing her for being Justin’s wife. In a candid TikTok she posted in late April, Hailey said, “Leave me alone at this point. I’m minding my business. I don’t do anything. I don’t say anything. Leave me alone, please. Enough time has gone by where it’s valid to leave me alone. I beg of you, truly. That’s my only request. Leave me alone. Be miserable somewhere else, please.”
Hailey spoke to ELLE last year about how hard the online comments have been on her. “In the beginning of our marriage, I just wanted to hide,” she said. “I was like, ‘I don’t want people so in my business. I feel like everybody’s up my ass.’ I was like, ‘Can there be no anonymity? Can I have any of it back?’” Hailey decided to turn off public comments on her Instagram so only people she follows can comment on her posts. “I remember someone telling me that [turning off the public comments] really lowers your engagement,” she said. “And I was like, ‘I could give a fuck about engagement! People are terrorizing me. Engagement, enschagement. I don’t care!’”
