Haylie Duff discusses why she traded Hollywood for Texas
In a recent interview, actress Haylie Duff revealed why she traded Hollywood for the Lone Star State. She told Fox 7 Austin on Monday, June 20, “Texas is my home state. And, so I always imagined that I would come back to Texas and raise our family here.”
Duff and her sister, Hilary, are no strangers to Texas as they are Houston natives. Haylie moved to Austin in June 2021, while her sister continues to live in California. However, Hilary did visit Austin earlier this month.
Haylie told Fox 7 Austin that she moved to Austin to live closer to her father. At first, she said she feared moving out of Los Angeles would hurt her career. But, Haylie added that Zoom has become a powerful tool that allows her to continue to work. Haylie recently starred in The Wedding Pact 2: The Baby Pact. It premiered on June 8.
“I’m very grateful that work opportunities have still been there for me,” she shared. “And I also am a big believer in God’s got your back. And so you make the right decision for your family, and he’s got it.”
One major difference Haylie said she notices about the move is traffic, according to Fox 7 Austin.
“We get to deal with all that traffic, although Austin is getting a lot of traffic with so many people coming here now,” Haylie said. “But, you know, I think our quality of life just changed a little bit.”
Oscar winner Emma Stone also purchased a home in Austin in April. She joins other celebrities who have made the move from Hollywood to Texas, like actor James Marsden, who is known for his role as Scott Summers/Cyclops in the X-Men franchise. The actor paid around $1.8 million for a five-bedroom, 5,160-sqaure-foot house in the Commons Ford area in Austin.
