Hollywood actress AnnaLynne McCord slammed for cringeworthy Vladimir Putin ‘poem’ amid Russia invasion of Ukraine
Just when the world had got over Gal Gadot’s cringe-inducing celeb-packed “Imagine” video – the one that was meant to make us feel better about being in COVID iso back in 2020 – another Hollywood actress has embarrassed herself with a unique take on a humanitarian crisis.
American actress AnnaLynne McCord, best-known for her roles on Nip/Tuck, American Heiress, Lucifer and 90210, has taken over Gal’s mantle of Biggest Celeb Cringe after posting truly bizarre video “poem” on the Ukraine crisis to her Twitter account.

In the two-minute long video, AnnaLynne addresses Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying “I’m so sorry that I was not your mother.”
She goes on to recite a cringe-inducing poem about how if she’d been his mother, the invasion of Ukraine would never have happened – because Putin would have grown up in a world of love and nurturing.
“If I was your mother, you would have been so loved, held in the arms of joyous light,” she says.
“Never would this story’s plight, the world unfurled before our eyes, a pure demise of nation sitting peaceful under the night sky.
“If I was your mother, the world would have been warm.”
Okay then.
But it just gets a whole lot worse.
“I can’t imagine the stain, the soul-stealing pain, that the little boy you must have seen and believed and the formulation of thought quickly taught that you lived in a cruel, unjust world,” she continues.
Say what?
“Is this why you now decide no-one will get the best of you?
“Is it because so early in life, all that strife wracked your little body in fear?
“If I was your mother I would have died to make you warm, I’d have died to give you life.
“I’d have died to protect you from the unjust, the violence, the terror, the uncertainty.
“Oh dear Mr President Putin, if only I’d been your mother.”
And on and on it goes, with AnnaLynne suggesting that if Putin had given her a call, she could have set his mind “quite free with the love only a mother can give.”
She adds that Putin could be a “powerful being of light” and “I cannot believe I was born too late to be your mother.”
The video has had more than 15 million views since it was posted early on Friday.
But, impassioned as her plea is, most followers were unashamedly LOL-ing at her attempts to appease Putin’s warmongering.
“This will definitely stop him!,” one Twitter user sarcastically joked.
“Just sing Imagine next time. It’s easier than whatever this is.”
People quickly began posting their own videos mocking the actresses’ attempt at pop psychology.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that the celebs are at it again,” one user groaned.
“Yes, more tummy time would have prevented this,” another wrote.
“Was going to do a dance to stop Putin but I think this 90210 actress nailed it,” one droll wit added.
“This is about as likely to have an impact on the conflict as me challenging Putin to a breakdancing competition.”
One Twitter user posted a photo manip showing the actress pushing baby Putin in a pram.
“I would pay a lot of money to un-see this,” another wrote.
A handful, however, defended the actress.
“People are upset .. but honestly, having a good person as a mother can make a big difference in a man being a good compassionate person,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Look at Prince Harry.
“People’s parents can play a big role in what kind of person they turn out to be.”
“I know it’s fun for some of you to rip people apart online, but some levity: Historically, many people around the world express their solidarity during wartime with poetry, music and performance,” another wrote.
“The arts are consoling, medicine for the soul.”
But most of the comments did not exactly express gratitude for the video’s existence.
“First it was a thought, then you had to write it down, set up the camera, press record, SAY IT OUT LOUD, PROCEED TO WATCH IT,” one person observed.
“And still, still you thought this was a good idea.”
“What we’re not going to do in the middle of potential ww3 is start blaming women/mothers for how men in power behave,” another commented.
“There’s still time to delete this, babe.”
