Hollywood star Paul Rudd makes surprise visit to Cobh, County Cork with emotional family connection
Hollywood A-Lister Paul Rudd has made a surprise visit to one of County Cork’s most famous attractions.
The Anchorman actor visited the Titanic Experience in Cobh this week, where he and his family have previously visited in the past. Paul’s father Michael was an avid historian and had a deep interest in the story of the Titanic.
Michale Rudd was an expert on the Titanic, and was a member of the Titanic Historical Society. He sadly passed away from cancer in 2008. Before his death, he made a number of trips to Ireland to visit historical sites, often staying the Commodore Hotel which also has links to the famous ship’s first and final voyage.
In a post on the museum’s Facebook page, management shared that the actor and his family were regular guests of the experience.
“We were delighted to welcome Paul Rudd and his family to Titanic Experience Cobh earlier today,” they said.
“Paul’s family have been regular visitors to Cobh in the past, as Paul’s dad (the late Michael Rudd) had a great passion for history and the Titanic story.”
” As the last port of call, Cobh has a unique and emotive link to the story and we hope the Rudd family enjoyed our tour and our stories,” they explained.
The post also shared that a number of young fans were present for Paul’s visit.
“We had a few #antman fans at the experience today and thank you to Paul for being so gracious to his enthusiastic young fans (and the not so young fans!” they said.
A number of Irish celebrities have also visited the Titanic experience in recent weeks, including Jennifer Zamparelli and Doireann Garrihy.
