How the Kardashians have changed their style since Kim’s split from Kanye West
The name of everybody’s lips is, unsurprisingly, once again, Kardashian.
Last week, all eyes were on Kourtney Kardashian, the eldest sister of TV’s reality monarchy, who tied the knot with her Blink-182 drummer beau Travis Barker, 46, in an intimate Italian ceremony on the island of Portofino.
Despite this technically being the pair’s third wedding – having enjoyed a just-for-fun ceremony in Las Vegas and an intimate legal ceremony in Santa Barbara, California earlier this month – it seems they certainly saved the most elaborate for last.
Going with the theme of ‘gothic glamour’, blushing bride Kourtney, 43, opted for a corset-style lace mini Dolce and Gabbana number with an extravagant trailing veil.

However, the newlywed has since received harsh criticism of her choice of wedding dress, which has been branded by many as “tacky and tasteless”.
Kourtney’s younger sisters have also received backlash from the public for their ‘barbarous’ bridesmaid fits.
41-year-old Kim Kardashian donned a skin-tight-fitting black full-lace gown with sheer sleeves and built-in gloves, accessorising the look with a statement colossal cross pendant.
For her ceremony look, 43-year-old Khloé Kardashian opted for a corseted gown similar to the bride, coloured in black however, as well as a black lace off-the-shoulder piece. She paired the dress with a ‘bizarrely shaped’ gold headpiece and hanging cross pendant.
Model sister Kendall Jenner, 26, went for a ‘plain’ satin bustier dress and simple up-do whilst their youngest sis Kylie Jenner, 24, wore a grey maxi-length dress with multi-coloured floral adornments, completing the look with some black sling-back pumps and dark-lip make-up.
Kardashian-Jenner matriarch and ‘momager’ Kris Jenner, 66, chose an ‘unshapely’ soft pick feathered maxi dress for the ceremony, complete with long flowing sheer sleeves and mirrored embellishments.
Fans have since taken to Twitter to express their underwhelm at the wedding outfits on display by the iconic Kardashian-Jenner family, with one writing: “The Kardashian’s outfits for Kourtney’s wedding are so bizarre. It’s like without Kanye everyone has forgotten how to dress #Kardashians”.
Another added, “That Kardashian wedding is giving satanic vibes and all the outfits look cheap af”, whilst a third wrote, “I would pay money to hear what Kanye thinks of these Kardashian wedding outfits”.
A fourth asked: “Was Kanye styling the whole family because the Kardashian-Jenners are looking thrifty in their thousand dollar outfits? ESP these Italy looks, disastrous.”
Ever since the loss of the family’s self-proclaimed fashion icon Kayne West, 44, – whom SKIMS founder Kim Kardashian filed from divorce from in February last year after almost seven years – fans have been observing the personal styles of each of the Kardashian sisters evolving to become more expressive and avant-garde, whether that be to the fans’ liking or otherwise.
Whilst Kim and her rapper husband were together, the whole Kardashian family often represented her husband’s clothes at special events and runway shows, with sisters Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie – and even mum Kris – often being spotted in his Yeezy garments or similarly simple numbers.
Despite this, Kourtney once famously jibed at her younger sister Kim for forever wearing “sweats and leggings” during a past episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, being that a significant proportion of Kanye’s clothing line consists of basic items of clothing – including neutral bodysuits and oversized loungewear.
On a previous episode of The Kardashians, Kim disclosed that her ex-husband – with whom she shares daughters North, nine and Chicago, four, as well as sons Saint, six and Psalm, three – had once likened her to a ‘cartoon character’ after she dressed herself without his fashion advice.
Speaking to Kourtney on the show, the mum-of-four explained: “I got to a point where I would just, like, ask him for advice for everything even down to what I wear. Even now I’m having like panic attacks like, ‘What do I wear?’.”
Worried about what to wear to last October’s WSJ awards, Kim told her big sister: “I was like, how do I wear something that hasn’t been pre-vetted first?”, adding that she was overridden with anxiety at the prospect of putting together a “bad outfit.”
She added: “He told me my career is over and he showed me a picture of Marge Simpson wearing something similar.”
In a confessional clip from the same episode, Kim told viewers: “I always just trusted him, but it is not just about the clothes. That was the last thing we really had in common.
“I was always the Kardashians with my sisters. Then I was Kimye. Who is Kim K? That is the jump. How do I get there without Kanye?”
However, many fans have since praised the family’s move towards regality with their formal attires however, which has seen them arguably transitioning from the ‘basic’ to the bountiful.
