When the Oscars lived through one of it’s most viral moments in history, the reaction from people who were present was not what would’ve happened in a normal setting. What happened to Dave Chapelle’s attacker who got on stage to tackle him is exactly what usually happens. But sice Will Smith is one of the most powerful people in Hollywood, he just got a slap on the wrist and even got a standing ovation after picking up his Academy Award.

For Howard Stern, these two situations are a perfect representation of the massive contrast that lives one and the other reality. He wanted for Will Smith to at least be taken into custody for what he did to Chris Rock, but this didn’t happen. On the other hand, Isaiah Lee apparently even got one of his arms completely dislocated based on the images shown online.

Here’s what Stern said on his radio show: “This guy jumped up on stage and attacked Dave Chappelle. As soon as that happened, did they let him go back to his seat and laugh and sit next to his wife and then give them an award? No! They took him backstage, they broke his arms and hands so bad. They fucking beat the shit out of him. Unlike the Academy Awards, Jamie Foxx came running out on stage and helped Dave Chappelle.”

He continued: “At the Academy Awards, everyone came over and consoled Will Smith – because it was live television and Hollywood didn’t know what to do about Will Smith. Listen! You don’t treat Will Smith any different than they did the Chappelle attacker. The audience at the Oscars gave Will Smith a standing ovation after the attack, that’s the truth. It’s on film, it’s not fake news. They didn’t break Will’s hands, they shook them and it’s wrong and they all should be ashamed of themselves.”

Howard Stern has always been famous for his outrageous hot takes, this is no different as he is flat out encouraging violence on his show. Although the reality is that Will Smith did get away with something that should’ve granted him a beating, he still should’ve been taken into police custody but nothing more than that.

Unfortunately, Hollywood does offer a special kind of treatment to celebrities that regular folks don’t get. Isaiah Lee was already convicted of a crime but he will also remember that beating for the rest of his life. Will Smith’s privilege will never allow him to be at risk despite getting violent with a fellow artist. That’s just the way things are in this twisted world.
