Idris Elba Exposes Celebrity He Used To Sell Weed To While Trying To Make It In Hollywood
In news no one expected to hear, Idris Elba said he used to sell weed to a certain famous person.
In a LinkedIn style-update, Elba decided to list off his previous side hustles when he was starting out as an actor. They included pretty relatable stuff like DJ gigs, working as a doorman… oh, and selling marijuana to one very well known celeb.
Okay, maybe the last one isn’t as relatable as the others.
But Elba did apparently used to sell to Dave Chappelle, as he revealed in a recent interview on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show.
Speaking on the show, the Luther actor revealed: “Dave Chappelle remembers me because he used to buy weed from me. Anyway, moving on.”
True to his word, Elba was indeed quick to move on with the conversation, but the surprise revelation lingered.
Though it will probably come as no surprise that marijuana was allegedly supplied to the stand-up comedian, who starred in the stoner film Half Baked.
People were quick to respond to news on Twitter, with one user writing: “Dave Chappelle buying weed from Idris Elba is kinda crazy.”
This isn’t the first time Elba made headlines in recent weeks, as the American Gangster actor had to address rumours that he was quitting acting.
Speaking on Loose Women on 31 March, Elba said: “I make music a lot, and I have pretty much [throughout] my entire career as an actor, but the last few years we’ve all been at home a lot more haven’t we?”
“And we all sort of just reassessed our lives a little bit, I love music and it’s my happy space,” he continued. “So, I’ve had a lot more chance to actually make music.
“I’m not giving up acting but I’m definitely going to put out more music and I just love the process of making music, I think that’s what I’m going to do”.
“I think people were a bit shocked like, ‘Oh he’s giving up acting,’ but I’ve actually been doing it a while so, especially in the last couple of years.”
The actor’s clarification came as no surprise to fans, who have been following his music career for years.
When the accomplished actor isn’t staring in hit movies, he spends a lot of time DJing and collaborating with other musicians, including Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
However, in an interview with Variety, he noted this was a bit of a balancing act: “It’s very difficult to shoot a movie and then go off into the studio or make a song. It’s like trying to build a soufflé while making a brick wall.”
