Inside Mark Wright’s rise to the top: from TOWIE beginnings to luxury millionaire lifestyle
As Mark Wright lands a new travel show with ITV, many may be considering how he became so successful and ended up as one half of a power couple with Michelle Keegan.
Believe it or not, the star currently has a net worth of over £9 million.
The 35-year-old first appeared on the TV scene when he starred in the ITV reality series The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) which also featured his sister Jess.
He is also a professional footballer for League Two club Crawley Town. Prior to this, he played semi-professionally for West Ham United, Arsenal and Tottenham during his teenage years.
In fact, he was the captain for the Spurs youth team at one point and played for reserves alongside Jamie Redknapp – he later moved to League One club Southend united which he soon left behind for non-league matches.
During this period, he was also promoting club nights all across London which he stuck to until he crashed onto the TV scene with TOWIE.
Mark was one of the original cast members of the show in 2010 and stuck around for three seasons before heading off for new horizons in October 2011.
However, he wasn’t done with TOWIE and he made a cameo appearance later on in the sixth season for the 2012 Christmas special as well as other brief appearances in 2014 and 2016.
With the fresh clout he earned from TOWIE, Mark went on to become a TV and radio presenter, featuring on shows such as Take Me Out: The Gossip alongside Laura Jackson from 2012 to 2017.
He was also a contestant for ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here where he finished second behind McFly bassist Dougie Poynter.
Mark also dabbled in the world of fashion where he modelled a new set of menswear for both Littlewoods and Matalan.
Not one to shy away from dipping his fingers into a lot of pies, Mark also showed an interest in property development – in 2018, he transformed a seven-bedroom mansion in Chigwell, Essex, into a row of four three-floor houses.
At the time, reports speculated he could potentially make as much as £5 million from the conversion. Adding onto this, Mark and his wife Michelle listed their Essex home for sale after buying another mansion for £1.3 million.
The pair married in 2015 which was accompanied by an extremely luxurious wedding racking up nearly £1 million in costs – the flowers alone were reportedly worth £60,000.
