Julie Andrews
Mary Poppins marked Julie’s film debut and her title role saw her shoot to fame overnight.
The actress was just 29 years old when she starred in the hit musical, and she went on to win an Oscar for Best Actress thanks to the role.
Julie went on to enjoy a glittering career and has won numerous awards over the years. She was made a dame by Queen Elizabeth for services to the performing arts in 2000.
She turned down a role in the 2018 reboot, Mary Poppins Returns, despite being offered a reported sum of £780,000.
Julie continues to work in showbiz, and has recently starred in Aquaman and she also narrates Netflix hit series Bridgerton.
Thanks to her highly successful career, the star reportedly has a net worth of £35 million.
Dick Van Dyke
Dick Van Dyke also found fame thanks to his role in Mary Poppins, with the actor starring as Bert in the Disney film.
The 96 year old went on to star in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Comic, and more recently, Night At The Museum.
He landed a cameo role in 2018 reboot Mary Poppins Returns, and portrayed Mr Dawes Jr in the film – the son of the banker from the original film.
In 2012, Dick married makeup artist Arlene Silver, 50, and the pair have remained loved-up ever since. The dad-of-four was recently spotting out in Malibu with his wife sporting a jumper which paid homage to the original Mary Poppins film.
Karen Dotrice
Karen Dotrice portrayed Jane in Mary Poppins when she was just nine years old.
The actress, 66, went on star in films such as The Gnome-Mobile and Joseph Andrews, before going on to retire from showbiz in 1984.
She stayed out of the spotlight as she raised her three children. But, she made a brief return in 2018 when she appeared in a cameo role in Mary Poppins Returns.
David Tomlinson
David Tomlinson starred as George Banks in Mary Poppins and he then continued to work with Disney, with the actor landing roles in The Love Bug and Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
He retired from acting when he was 63 in order to spend more time with his family, and his final acting role was in 1980 in The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu.
David sadly passed away in 2000 at the age of 83, following a stroke. The actor left behind his wife Audrey Freeman and their four sons, David Jr., William, Henry, and James.
Glynis Johns
Actress Glynis Johns starred in Mary Poppins as Winifred Banks and she went on to enjoy a successful acting career.
The star, now 98, went on to be cast in a few movies such as 1969 comedy Lock Up Your Daughters, but she enjoyed more success on stage.
Mum-of-one Glynis retired from showbiz in 1999, and she now resides at the Belmont Village Hollywood Heights, a senior living community in LA.
After being nominated for her role in 1960 film The Sundowners, Glynis is now the oldest living Oscar nominee in any category, following the death of Olivia de Havilland in 2020.

Matthew was eight years old when he portrayed Michael in Mary Poppins, and he then went on to star in The Three Lives of Thomasina and The Gnome Mobile, alongside Karen Dotrice.
In 1977, when he was just 21, Matthew tragically passed away after catching Hepatitis while in India. The actor died at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London, of haemorrhagic necrotising pancreatitis – a health problem in which part of your pancreas dies.
Karen paid tribute to her co-star following his tragic death, saying: “He was how he looked — an imp, and I loved being his shadow.
“He loved being naughty, finding and jumping off of small buildings on the back lot. While I was Victorian proper and wouldn’t let myself get dirty or muddy, Matthew had a great sense of fun and danger.
“He was a daredevil and could have been a race car driver. And he did live a full life over his 21 years.”
Matthew was posthumously named a Disney legend in 2004, with his younger brother Fergus Garber accepting the award on his behalf.
