Jamie Lee Curtis shared a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram account in honor of her late father, Tony Curtis, earlier today.
The post was meant to celebrate what would have been her father’s 97th birthday. Tony Curtis, one of Hollywood’s top actors of all time, was born on June 3, 1925.
He had a legacy in Hollywood as he worked with massive stars like Marilyn Monroe (on Some Like It Hot) and Natalie Wood (on The Great Race) and his career in the industry spanned for decades.

His daughter, Jamie Lee, followed in his footsteps, and has starred in numerous successful films.
The photo uploaded onto the star’s Instagram showed Tony, his wife Janet Leigh (who was also a major movie star thanks to Psycho), and their two daughters, Jamie Lee and Kelly Curtis.
The actress typed out a caption that showed her love for her father in remembrance of his birthday.
‘Born this day……Tony Curtis who then went on to marry Janet Leigh who then bore my sister and me. The circle of life. And now I am a mommy with two married daughters. As James Taylor said, “The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time.”‘

Tony had a successful career in Hollywood, starring alongside a number of A-list actors of his time.
One of his most famous and iconic films was Some Like It Hot (1959) with Marilyn Monroe and John Lemmon.
The comedic film follows Curtis and Lemmon who disguise themselves as women after witnessing a murder in order to escape the city. The two join an all-female jazz band, where Curtis’ character falls for Sugar, played by Monroe.
Curtis was in the spotlight for years, working alongside other famous actors like Natalie Wood, Laurence Olivier and Cary Grant.

Although Tony and Janet Leigh separated when Jamie Lee was only three, the love for her father and mother was always strong.
In an Instagram post earlier this year, the Knives Out actress discussed the hardships of living through many parent separations and divorces.
‘There are only a couple reminders to me that I was born from love and not resentment, competition, jealousy and rancor which are the cornerstones of any unpleasant divorce.’

Jamie Lee has had her round of success in Hollywood, starring in true classics such as the Halloween franchise and True Lies.
The love and respect that she has for her parents continues to live on, and she sets positive examples for her own daughters and family.
Tony passed away 12 years ago on September 29, 2010 in Nevada. He was 85 years old.
Although he is no longer on this Earth, his legacy still lives on, and Jamie Lee is just one of many that still look up to him.
