Johnny Depp’s team recalls Hollywood expert Richard Marks
Johnny Depp’s team recalled Hollywood expert Richard Marks, an entertainment lawyer, on Tuesday to try to poke holes in Amber Heard’s defense case.
According to Heard’s Hollywood expert, Kathryn Arnold, the actress lost between $45 and $50 million in job opportunities as a result of Depp’s alleged defamation. Heard played Mera in “Aquaman,” one of the highest-grossing films of all time, and she believes her career should have taken off after that.
Arnold likened Heard’s potential career path to Jason Momoa’s in “Aquaman,” Chris Pine’s in “Star Trek,” and Gal Gadot’s in “Wonder Woman.”
However, Marks stated that Arnold’s multimillion-dollar figure has no basis, and the actors she used as comparisons to Heard were the stars of their respective super hero films.
“Jason Momoa is not a comparable actor,” Marks said. “He played “Aquaman,’ not a supporting character like Mera.”
Who Is Attorney Richard Marks?
Richard Marks is a lawyer in Los Angeles. He is a University of California graduate. He is the founder of Richard Marks & Associates Entertainment Law, according to LinkedIn.
He was an OF Counsel at The Point Media and Greenberg Traurig, LLP before starting his own firm. The lawyer has over two decades of experience in Entertainment Transactional Law and Counseling.
Marks has not only negotiated first deals with the client, but he has also worked closely with Amazon, Netflix, Peacock, and Quibi, as stated in his bio.
In the past, the attorney has worked with Warner Bros. and clients such as Jillian Michaels and Paul Smith. Eva Longoria, George Foreman, George Lucas, and Barry Weiss were among his other celebrity clients.
Richard Marks was summoned to the courtroom on May 2, 2022, to evaluate Heard’s claim published in The Washington Post in 2018.
According to the Los Angeles-based attorney, a studio would not sign the actor with bad publicity. Because the image may harm the film and brand. Similarly, he discussed the cancellation of certain Hollywood actors following allegations of misconduct.
Marks believes Amber practically called out Hollywood, accusing the industry of supporting Depp. After his deposition, he stated, “The Op-Ed harmed Mr. Depp, creating a “cancel situation,” if you will.” He harmed his reputation and ability to find work in Hollywood.”
