Joyner Lucas’ New Song Defends Kanye West Amid Kim Kardashian Drama
On April 1, rapper Joyner Lucas defends Kanye “Ye” West in a brand new song, “Ye Not Crazy.”
The new single shows Lucas siding with West through all the drama involving his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
“Crazy = Genius,” Lucas tweeted with a video clip of the new song, reaching 11,000 likes.
The music video with 144,000 views shows a similar setup to West’s recent album, Donda. A quick clip in the video shows a hologram of West to look as if he is singing the lyrics. Lucas also references West’s music video for his song “Closed on Sunday,” that features Kardashian and their four children.
West was trending for a few weeks while he posted many photos of news articles, private text messages, and others on Instagram. Last month, the rapper was suspended from the social media platform after he went against Instagram’s policy violations. Last year, Kardashian filed for divorce and it was finalized earlier this year.
Lyrics heard throughout Lucas’ song are:
“How do you spеll ‘Crazy’? (Crazy), G-E-N-I-U-S/How do you spell ‘Pay me’? (Pay me), I-R-S/What you know about mental health when you live in hell and you out of meds?”
“Then I got on my Ye s**t, turned every ‘No’ to a solid ‘Yes’.
“Jesus walks (W-w-walks), n***a, I ran (N***a, I ran),”
Lucas has been trending over the last few weeks after calling out the musical festival in Chicago, Lollapalooza. The rapper took to Twitter to share his anger with his 400,000 followers that he declined the festival’s offer to perform—but they put his name on the poster anyway.
In his series of now-deleted tweets, Lucas also called out Machine Gun Kelly, later apologizing and blaming his rant on “Russian hackers.”
“Part of being a man is admitting when you f***ed up. I be getting frustrated when I feel like I’m the underdog all the time. Maybe I ain’t put in enuff work. maybe I think I’m a bigger artist than what I actually am. Maybe you right. I own that,” he wrote in-part.
He then apologized to Kelly. “As far as the @machinegunkelly s**t Goes,, homie ain’t have nothing to do with my rant.”
He continued: “Jus got caught in the cross fire of one of my bitter moments. Def sum sucka s**t to come at him for nothin. I own that & I apologize. Real n***a shit. I ain’t perfect. Im growing everyday… I cant deny that sometimes i come off like a jealous a**hole But that aint the case. Im a fan of these n***az. I think I been the underdog for so long, s**t made me feel like I deserve certain s**t. But who tf am I to determine what i deserve? Sometimes I gotta check myself.”
He also stated that Kelly didn’t deserve to be brought into the tweets.
“@machinegunkelly did absolutely nothin to me to deserve that lame tweet. If u readin this, I apologize dog.”
