Pete Davidson is acknowledging he’s had an interesting past few months, to say the least.
The “Saturday Night Live” comedian, 28, was thrust further into the spotlight late last year after he began dating Kim Kardashian, newly single after splitting from her husband of almost seven years, rapper Ye – formerly known as Kanye West.
“I’ve had a really weird year,” Davidson said in a newly-released clip from his standup set during the Netflix is A Joke comedy festival last week, noting that it was difficult for his friends to offer advice given the rarity of the situation: an “SNL” performer dating one of the most famous women in the world and facing public threats from her ex-husband – as well as “a lot of people” in the public who are “very angry at me.”

Ye raised eyebrows in March when he took his disdain for Davidson to new heights with a disturbing music video that shows him killing the comedian. The music video for “Eazy” featured the rapper reflecting on his divorce and custody battle as he holds what appears to be a bloodied, disfigured head created to look like Davidson.
“People try to give you advice, but even friends that are older, they’re like ‘I don’t know. It looks pretty bad, bro. Sorry, good luck. (We’re) here if you need, but like, no advice,'” Davidson said. “No one was like, ‘this is what you do.’ Everyone’s like, ‘oh, yeah. You staying with your mom? You in a safe spot?'”

Last weekend, Davidson and Kardashian made their red carpet debut together at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., just two days before all eyes were on them at the Met Gala in New York City.
Davidson said in his standup the “only thing” he doesn’t like about his new relationship is the “weird questions” others ask him – recently, someone asked the comedian if he was upset that his friend, rapper Jack Harlow, joined Ye to perform on his latest album.

“I’m like, no. He’s a rapper. That’s his field. That’s what they do. That doesn’t hurt my feelings. It would hurt my feelings if I saw, like, Bill Burr at Sunday Service,” Davidson said, referencing Ye’s gospel choir events.
Still, Davidson is maintaining a sense of humor about his unique situation. “Does anybody else secretly hope that Kanye pulls a ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’?” he asked the crowd, picturing coming “home one day and they’re like, ‘this is the new housekeeper.’ And he’s like ‘What’s up, fam?'”
Previously, Davidson was the subject of many headlines over his engagement to pop singer Ariana Grande. After they split in 2018, he was also spotted out with Kate Beckinsale, Kaia Gerber and “Bridgerton” star Phoebe Dynevor.
