Katharine McPhee Is Selling Her Los Angeles House – DIRT
Last summer, Katherine McPhee joined her husband — Grammy-winning songwriter/music producer David Foster — in the $7.1 million off-market purchase of a teardown house in the affluent neighborhood of Brentwood Park. Unsurprisingly, the singer/actress has now decided to lighten her Los Angeles real estate load a tad, listing her stunning Spanish Revival-style residence in Hollywood Hills for nearly $2.7 million.
The “American Idol” alum doled out just over $2 million for the place back in summer 2017, around the same time she and Foster were first romantically linked.
Originally built in the 1930s for silent film star Agnes Ayres, the premises have been extensively renovated during McPhee’s tenure. Four bedrooms and an equal number of baths are spread across 3,527 square feet of living space, which is adorned throughout with oak floors, colorful mosaic tile, wood-beam ceilings and skylights.
The three-story white stucco and terracotta-roof structure is accented by a soaring stone turret housing a Gothic-arch wood front door that opens into a tiled foyer displaying a stylish wrought-iron staircase. From there, a sunken living room is centered around a large whitewashed stone fireplace, and an adjacent sitting area overlooks the grounds.
Other main-level highlights include a formal dining room boasting French doors spilling out to a terrace, and a gourmet kitchen outfitted with quartz marble countertops, custom cabinetry with Italian hardware, high-end Viking appliances, a wine fridge and sunny breakfast nook. An ensuite guest bedroom with the original wainscoting can also be found on this floor.
Two additional bedrooms hold court on the second level — one a primary suite sporting a fireplace, dual walk-in closets, and a luxe updated bath with a soaking tub and glass-encased shower, and the other offering a balcony and sunroom. The lower level, meanwhile, has a family room with a wet bar and doors that spill out to a motorcourt fronted by a two-car garage; a fourth ensuite bedroom with its own entrance could easily serve as a gym.
As for the outdoors, a courtyard is ideal for al fresco dining with a built-in barbecue and fireplace, and an open-air pavilion holds a fireside lounge area. There’s also a lush tree-lined backyard hosting a grassy lawn with plenty of room for a pool.
McPhee, 38 (as of March 25), and Foster, 72, currently reside in Foster’s L.A. “bachelor pad,” a high-floor condo in the Wilshire Corridor area that he bought in 2015 following his split from his fourth wife — and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum — Yolanda Hadid. McPhee still owns a three-bedroom property in Toluca Lake that she paid married actors Corbin Bernson and Amanda Pays $1.4 million for back in 2015.
