Kim Kardashian’s Biggest Fashion Critic Isn’t Who You Think

Just about everyone has thoughts about Kim Kardashian‘s clothes. For a reminder, just think back to all the memes that came after her Balenciaga Met Gala look last year, which obscured her face, to her caution-tape outfit at Paris Fashion Week, and her metallic sci-fi femme-bot bikini ensemble just last weekend. While just about everything elicits some thoughts, Kardashian shared that her biggest critic isn’t anyone that’s trolling her online.
In fact, it’s coming from inside the house. During an interview with Vogue, Kardashian said that her daughter North is the one that has the most to say about what she wears — and it’s not all good. North, who Kardashian shares with her ex Kanye West, isn’t quiet about her preference for color and her disdain for one of Kim K.’s go-tos: black.
“North is very opinionated when it comes to what I’m wearing,” Kardashian told Chioma Nnadi. “She’ll always complain when I’m wearing too much black. I showed up at her school on Valentine’s Day wearing head-to-toe pink, and she got so excited she ran over and hugged me. [Of course] she opened my coat, saw the black lining, and says ‘Mom, you’re still wearing black.'”

Kim also spoke about letting the pros do what they do. Talking about that iconic Met Gala mask, she said she was reticent to cover her face, but knew that in the end, designer Denma Gvasalia had a vision and she was there to execute it with him.
“I fought against it. I was like, I don’t know how I could wear the mask. Why would I want to cover my face? But Demna and the team were like, This is a costume gala. This is not a Vanity Fair party where everyone looks beautiful,” she said. “There’s a theme and you have to wear the mask. That is the look.”
