Lauren Goodger has always been open about her difficult childhood and in a new interview, Lauren’s mum Cheryl reveals her regret over giving her daughter away when she was four years old.

Cheryl struggled with her mental health and found it hard to cope with three children. In turn she made the tough decision that the former TOWIE star should live with her dad.

“There’s nothing worse than giving your child away, and I wished I hadn’t,” Cheryl, 60, told Closer magazine.

“I had immediate regret. At the time I thought it was the best thing, I knew Lauren’s dad could give her a better life. I said ‘OK, as long as I can see her regularly.

“But Lauren was busy with her dad and step-mum, going on holidays, doing dance and drama classes at the weekends, I barely saw her. I just wanted to kidnap her and have her back with me.”

“My childhood wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t normal,” she said.

“My mum was already a single mum with two kids before I came along, and it was a lot for her because of her depression so she gave me away to my dad, who took me on.”

The reality star then explained she went back to live with her mum in her teenage years.

A source told us: “Charlie has organised something for the three of them, but she has no idea what it is.

“She feels Mother’s Day is cute as she feels a double mum, whereas last year she was pregnant with Larose.

“She likes the fact she’s got Larose and she’s also pregnant, she feels like it’s a double celebration.”
