Marvel actor Simu Liu teases Shang-Chis future in MCU
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu recently addressed his MCU future. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings released last year, giving an origin story of how Liu‘s character confronts the past and embraces his identity as a superhero. The film was a hit and Marvel gave the nod for Shang-Chi 2 with both Liu and director Destin Daniel Cretton returning to helm the project.

Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel recently revealed to fans what they can expect in the next few years as part of Phase 5 and Phase 6 of MCU. Two of the biggest projects announced were Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, for those eager for Shang-Chi 2, the panel didn’t provide any update on the anticipated sequel.

However, Shang-Chi himself has teased his future in the MCU, stating, “I don’t want to jump the gun or anything, but I feel like there might be room for me in a couple of those, wouldn’t you say? I was watching the presentation basically from Twitter and being like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna be busy. I’m gonna be busy the next few years.’”

Going by reports, Shang-Chi will likely feature prominently in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, with those films poised to assemble a new version of the iconic superhero team. Meanwhile, Shang-Chi could appear in any number of projects from Phase 6, announcements of which has been scarce.

According to a report in Screenrant, while it is unclear when Shang-Chi 2 will be released, but it seems likely that the project will come out at some point during Phase 6.

While Liu’s character has been a hit with fans since the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, his position in the MCU and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe story arc still remains shrouded in mystery.
