What date and time will the popular Tamil-language comedy movie Don release around the world for OTT streaming on Netflix?

The restrictions on the cinema industry imposed during the global coronavirus pandemic have eased for most moviegoers across the world.

However, not every film fan may have the opportunity to travel to your local silver screen to watch the latest blockbusters with many choosing to wait until OTT streaming launches; this week, fans are looking ahead to the launch of the hit Tamil-language comedy movie, Don.

So, what do fans need to know about the OTT launch for Don, including the international release date and time for global streaming?

Don makes waves in theatres worldwide

Don was originally meant to premiere in theatres both domestically in India and internationally on Valentine’s Day (February 14th) 2022. This was then pushed to February 17th to release on lead actor Sivakarthikeyan’s birthday; however, the movie was eventually delayed until March 25th.

The film would again be postponed due to the clash with the incredible RRR movie, a wise decision from the filmmakers, with Don finally arriving in cinemas on May 13th.

On the first day of its release, Don would earn over Rs 10 Crore at the Indian box office, making it the best-ever opening for a Sivakarthikeyan movie. Per The Indian Express, the film would go on to gross more than Rs 100 Crore worldwide, a significant return on the Rs 50 Crore budget that was reported.

Don: OTT streaming release date and time

In early-March, it was confirmed that the OTT streaming rights had been sold to a “leading platform” with a follow-up Tweet by Netflix revealing that the film would premiere in India via their service on Friday, June 10th.

Netflix typically releases all original content, aside from simulcast K-dramas, at 12 AM Pacific Time in accordance with Netflix HQ on the West Coast of America. Subsequently, Don was initially expected to premiere from 12:30 PM India Standard Time on June 10th.

However, Netflix India has just confirmed that Don will be made available for OTT streaming at a slightly different time than normal and the movie will instead release from midnight (12 AM) IST on June 10th:

  • Pacific Time – 11:30 AM PDT
  • Eastern Time – 2:30 PM EDT
  • British Time – 8:30 PM BST
  • European Time – 9:30 PM CEST
  • Pakistan Time – 11:30 PM PKT
  • India Time – 12 AM IST
  • Philippine Time – 2:30 AM PHT
  • Australia Time – 4 AM ACST

Netflix India currently offers several subscription packages that will grant access to the Don movie upon its OTT streaming release:

  • Mobile Plan: Rs 149 a month, one mobile device at SD resolution
  • Basic Plan: Rs 199 a month, one device at SD resolution
  • Standard Plan: Rs 499 a month, two devices at HD resolution
  • Premium Plan: Rs 649 a month, four devices at Full H resolution
