Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg confirmed that Peacemaker actor Rizwan Manji appears in the film.

Last weekend, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films held a presentation at San Diego Comic-Con to showcase two of their upcoming films: Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. In the case of the latter, the film is a sequel to the 2019 film that starred Zachary Levi as the original Captain Marvel. Both that and the upcoming sequel seem to have some major connections to the rest of the DC Extended Universe, and it turns out one particular connection includes Peacemaker star Rizwan Manji.

On his official Twitter, director David F. Sandberg responded to a tweet that included a screenshot from the first trailer, asking if Peacemaker actor Rizwan Manji is the figure seen in this image. Both Sandberg and Manji confirmed that to be the case:

Rizwan Manji has a recurring role in the first season of Peacemaker as Jamil, a janitor at the hospital that John Cena’s titular antihero finds himself in after the events of The Suicide Squad. David F. Sandberg acknowledged that Manji’s character in the Shazam! sequel remains unnamed, but also states that it is possible that he could also be Jamil.

Directed by David F. Sandberg from a script written by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan, the film stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, D.J. Cotrona, Grace Caroline Currey, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Millans, Cooper Andrews, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods opens on December 21, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and the upcoming second season of Peacemaker, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
