The Met Gala 2022, dubbed “fashion’s biggest night” or “the Super Bowl of celebrity red carpets,” took place on Monday, May 2 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York. The star-studded event brought together the biggest international celebrities in their most unique outfits to celebrate fashion. However, as the couples Sophie Turner-Joe Jonas and Kim Kardashian-Pete Davidson made their presence known, another couple got engaged on the red carpet.

Lauri Combo, Commissioner of New York City’s Department of Cultural Affairs, was proposed to by her boyfriend Bobby Digi Olisa, a former New York State Assembly candidate, on the red carpet, and the lady said yes. Bobby got down on one knee and asked Laurie a question while presenting her with the ring. The two kissed on the red carpet as photographers captured the perfect moment on their cameras.

Laurie wore a gown embellished with gold sparkles and white gloves to the Met Gala 2022. Bobby, on the other hand, wore black shoes with patent leather shoes. Their photographs and videos from the most special moment, which became the ‘moment of the day,’ went viral on the internet, with many netizens congratulating the newly engaged couple.

Famous celebrities such as Katy Perry, Emma Stone, Jared Leto, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, and others added to the glitz at the event, which this year’s theme was ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’ and the dress code was Gilded Glamour.

The Met Gala was chaired this year by Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, as well as actress Regina King and actor-singer-playwright-director Lin-Manuel Miranda. The honorary chairs were Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour.
