The Californian native is now set to take Hollywood by storm playing Elvis Presley.

Who is Austin Butler?

Austin Butler, 30, is an American actor and singer.

The Californian man was born on August 17, 1991, in Anaheim to aesthetician Lorie Anne and David Butler.

He is best known for his roles in Switched At Birth, The Carrie Diaries and The Shannara Chronicles.

Austin got his first intro into the entertainment world when he was approached by a background-acting management company rep at the Orange County Fair.

Who is Austin Butler dating?

Austin was in a relationship with High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens from 2011.

But one month before their ninth anniversary in 2020 they split up.

The two never confirmed the reason behind their split, though many fans assumed it was due to opposing film schedules and distance.

Since December 2021, Austin has been dating supermodel Kaia Gerber.

When will Austin Butler play Elvis Presley?

Back in July 2019, it was announced that Austin was set to play Elvis Presley in the upcoming Baz Luhrmann biopic.

He beat off a host of other celebs – including Harry Styles and Ansel Elgort – to land the role of The King,

Austin joins Hollywood heavyweight Tom Hanks in the film, who plays Elvis’ manager of 20 years Colonel Tom Parker.

After years of waiting, fans will finally be able to watch the movie when it is released on June 24, 2022.

Which TV shows and movies has Austin Butler starred in?

After a series of background acting gigs, Austin was introduced to his friend Lindsay Shaw’s manager Pat Cutler who offered to manage him.

Subsequently Austin became a lot more invested in his acting career and started to take on speaking roles – including a guest starring role on Hannah Montana, playing Derek Hanson alongside Miley Cyrus.

Following a few appearances in other family-friendly shows such as Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101, Disney’s Wizards Of Waverley Place and 20th Century Fox’s Aliens In The Attic, Austin won a recurring role as Jones in CW’s Life Unexpected.

He then landed a lead role in High School Musical spin-off Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure.

But it was his role of heartthrob Sebastian Kydd in Sex And The City prequel series The Carrie Diaries that opened him up to a more mature audience.

Likewise his role in MTV’s The Shannara Chronicles between 2016-2018 also exposed him to a different audience.

But Austin really made the leap to adult films in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time In Hollywood opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

He also starred in The Dead Don’t Die alongside Billy Murray and Adam Driver.
