Will Smith is one of the richest actors in Hollywood. As per Celebrity Net Worth, he has about $350 million to his name and the actor loves spending his hard-earned money on the things he loves. One of the things he loves is cars and so he spends lavishly to add to his collection. Reportedly he has a Rolls-Royce Ghost, a 1965 Ford Mustang, and a two-story RV with more than 1,200 floor space.

However, that’s not all. The actor also owns a BMW i8 Hybrid. One would think that the actor would take the sleek, stylish, and environmentally-friendly car everywhere. But that’s not the case. Smith apparently still heavily relies on his fuel-chugging Ford Taurus for everyday work.

Will Smith has a history of environmental activism. The actor hosted Welcome to Earth, a National Geographic and Disney+ series that showed viewers the wonders of the planet. Apart from this, the star launched the Just Water company with his son Jaden Smith in 2015. The bottles used were made out of renewable 82% plant-based resources. Along with this, Smith also partnered with Leonardo DiCaprio in 2019 to launch eco sneakers.

All of the profits went to supporting the preservation efforts of the Amazon rainforest. As such, with the actor’s long relationship with environmental activism, one might think that he would use his BMW i8 Hybrid more. The car comes with a whopping price tag of $140,000 and it can run fully on electricity for a total of 22 miles at 75mph speeds. If used with petrol and set on EcoPro mode, it gives a 330-mile range in total. Also, it has a score of 46 g/km carbon emissions.

However, reportedly the actor saves this car for special events or occasions and instead prefers to drive in a Ford Taurus that’s not electric or hybrid. It offers a fuel efficiency of 112.0 MPG or 2.1 L/100 km and has 49 g/km carbon emissions as per the NEDC test. One has to wonder why Smith prefers the car that chugs more fuel and harms the environment with its emissions. Fans speculate it’s because he had the Ford Taurus for a long time and is attached to it.
